RON SCHAEFER
is the founder, president, producer and artistic director of SWM. He is the author of many books (found on his own page here) and has produced & directed over two dozen films over the years as well as live performances. Hello, I'm Ron. As a kid I became interested in different types of stories early on. I began making up my own and by the time I entered college, I had given up dreams of becoming a race car driver, and a scientist (couldn't decide between astronomy and paleontology)...and yeah I know those are two wildly different pursuits -- one's all about speed, the other's about discovery; and chucked the whole thing for telling stories professionally. First as a writer, and later as a stage director and filmmaker. As a boy I directed skits with my friends, and always dreamed of making my own movies someday. That day came when the world's technology ramped up into digital cameras, making poor slugs like me able to make actual feature films with little or no money. I have since made over a dozen features and about as many documentaries, and several TV series made for what was then Public Access Television. You'll find it all on this site. I continued as a writer all through this writing several novels, several books of stories, several poetry books, over a dozen screenplays intended for Hollywood and not for my little SWFilms company, several more musical shows, and over 60 stage plays. All that is featured on my book page -- a separate site linked here. I also felt the need to expand the base and develop community theater projects for various local minority groups, which has become Windsong (see that page), creating the Spirit Arts Festival in the process, and doing workshops to bring in more talent, especially among those looked over in acting, directing, writing, and so on. I even expanded on SAFest to include the Space Symposium (now called Science-Art Forum). So with that in mind, I also developed Nimbus Arts & Science Magazine (see that page), to get people interested in the crossroads of the arts, science, technology, and their own in-born spirituality. I always look forward to what's next, in myself and in others. And I always hope to find others with the same outlook to join with us. |
